BASICS
CHARACTER NAME: Hayato Ichimonji.
CANON: Kamen Rider Spirits (manga)
CANON POINT: Chapter 3, after defeating General Gwin and leaving Gamon.
AGE: About 36, but he's barely aged past 22
BACKGROUND
HISTORY: Hayato and Spirits
A quick note on Hayato's specific iteration:
Hayato has lots of iterations and lots of canon. He has passed through many writers and has been present in pop culture for over 50 years. In order to make it very simple, Hayato is specifically from the Spirits manga, which makes his original tv series as well as his reoccurring cameos in later Kamen Rider serials up to Super-1 canon. After Super-1, Spirits begins branching off into it's own timeline. Hayato is of that timeline.
For consistency sake, Spirits will be what I refer to in how his body and powers work as well as any added history or embellishment to his background it may add.
PERSONALITY: Answer three of the following questions. Limit this section to 500-1,000 words in total, or 150-300 words per question. What impression does your character give when meeting someone for the first time? How does the first impression differ from your character’s true nature?
It does depend on who you are, but Hayato is the kind of person who doesn't care to hide his emotions most of the time. It makes him a pretty stark contrast to his partner, Hongo, who is a calm, collected and constantly suffering quietly in his own head kind of guy. Hayato, on the other hand, will smile when he is happy, and he is naturally a cheery and upbeat guy. When he is angry, you will know it, and he will not hold back when he is pissed, often visibly shaking just before he hits the tipping point. He's very genuine in what he feels and he does not try to stamp it down.
Of course that doesn't mean Hayato gives everything away. He does keep hidden the more vulnerable parts of himself, and is guarded about his own insecurities and despair. It takes a lot to crack him past his surface, and often it's a show of trust if he allows someone in. Hayato is also an extremely observant person who keeps notes of even the most minuet details even during a casual conversation. He is sharp and discerning, as expected of a photojournalist and vigilante.
So chances are when you meet him for the first time, you're meeting a well-meaning, friendly guy with a notebook and a whole lot of questions. In the off chance he's meeting you because you are obstructing justice and hurting innocents, it's likely he is putting a fist into your face. All these aspects of Hayato are true and geniune. How does your character handle stress? What do they do in an emergency?
Hayato lives an incredibly dire and stressful life. You will not find someone better at handling stress than him. He's shouldered the weight of the world for years and years and has had to fight through bleak and hopeless circumstances over and over again. If something occurs to shake his ability to respond to a situation, it would surely have to be world shattering. However, that does not mean he is unaffected by the horrors he deals with. He's far from cynical and each tragedy he fails to prevent, or each person that slips through his fingers hits just as hard as the last.
That said, he's the kind of person quick to action, automatically doing what he can to assist a situation. He is the sort not to back down from something even if he appears outmatched and overwhelmed and will stubbornly do what he can within his power to help. This does make him a very reckless person without much regard to his own limits, and knowing how much his body can handle means he cares little for how much damage he takes in order to come out on top. What are your character’s ambitions/goals? Why are they important to your character?
Hayato has one very important goal that is so lofty you may as well call it impossible. It's simply that he desires a world without conflict or strife.
To that end, Hayato is dedicated to a life of fighting the evils of the world in every way he can and won't stop until he's achieved this. Hayato is simply a guy who can't stand to see injustice in the world and since he has a nigh unkillable cyborg body and lots of pure strength, its his duty as Kamen Rider to be what stands between humanity and the evils they cannot defend against. You would think someone in his position would grow resentful and despairing of what appears to be a fight that will never end, but Hayato is as stubborn as he is optimistic and he will continue to fight until the day he sees his goal achieved, and the world no longer needs Kamen Rider.
POWERS
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Hayato has been augmented heavily with cybernetics. He is roughly 90% machine and has lots of batshit superpowers as a result. His canon and his many iterations will often add, subtract and contradict his power levels from iteration to iteration so for the purpose of this game and what I know will actually come up in RP, this is his powerset:
- Super Strength (Can punch tank ammunition as its being fired like it's nothing and also can just deadlift the entire tank)
- Extremely sharp hearing and eyesight (including night vision)
- Resistant to poison and can also recycle air in his lungs for up to two hours. However he can still suffocate if he's caught off guard.
- He can JUMP. His motif is a grasshopper, and so he can leap several stories with ease. He can also jump fast and can rocket himself around a fight this way without actually possessing super speed or flight.
- Super human durability (Extremely hard to kill. Can survive having buildings dropped on him and getting thrown off cliffs.)
- Enhanced healing. (His body can heal itself pretty well on it's own, and he can recover from bad injuries within a day. Anything extensive requires active repairs, and he cannot regrow a limb if it gets ripped off, it has to be reattached. On the bright side a lot of his injuries can be solved with duck tape!)
- Transformation (Hayato can transform into Kamen Rider, which basically means all his listed above abilities get huge buff.)
NERFING:
- He will be locked out of his Kamen Rider transformation.
- His super strength will be much more limited. Instead of being able to flip tanks, he can maybe tip a mid-sized car with effort.
- He can jump one story, instead of several
- His healing doesn't work quite as fast and extensive injuries take more time and rest to recover from. However, if he gets an arm ripped off it can still be reattached as usual since that's just how his brand of cybernetics work. (note: He is also limited in his repairs simply because he is not an actual expert on cybernetics. He'll have to find someone knowledgeable in-game to do more than the basics.)
- He gets to feel pain again. As a treat. :)
WEAKNESSES: Hayato can come back from pretty much anything with one exception: His belt. If you take out the Kamen Rider belt, he's done for. Canonly, this is still extremely hard to do, but in game it's durability will be nerfed and a well placed shot to the turbines will kill him outright. Other than that, in the off chance that something is able to destroy his brain, he won't be coming back from that either. It's just much more protected than the belt.
